Carolina, Carolina, wherefore art thou, Carolina? I can't really help you here. If you're weak at running back then pick him up late. He should be the leading running back on this team, but, I'm not sure he will be after training camp. If DeShaun Foster could stay healthy he did show some real excellence for a while and could keep Williams on the bench. Steve Smith will be the focus of the offense and if Delhomme can wake up then they will be a great tandem once again. The foil isn't really there this year and letting K.J. start his second career as an analyst, (For which he should be a good one, please, please, please network gods get rid of Sanders and Irvin!) because defenses will not respect the rookie until he proves he can play at this level. Dwayne Jarrett, at least, actually comes from the right football factory and is more ready then his Florida counterparts. (Hey, how about that West Coast bias!) The schedule is not too tough. In fact some teams would use it to get into the playoffs and beyond. How is this team so different from the Superbowl team of a few years ago? Same coach, tough defense, adequate offense, boring clock management game plan; why not? If they do, it will be because Foster stays healthy or Williams emerges. I'm banking on the youth. Foster will go down or Williams will simply take over by mid-season. Let someone else draft him, drop him, than keep tabs on him as a good pick-up later. If you're in the bottom part of the draft with only two backs and a bit sketchy at that, then take a chance on Williams. |
