If he plays he cannot be ignored. The brother's attitude showed us the real Vick that lay hidden behind his handlers. He was anointed at an early age as a god and praise, accolades and girls were like clothes for his ego. Whereas the rest of us are shopping at Goodwill or TJ Max he was being shepherded through the boutiques of Beverly Hills. You can say that it's not his fault because of this. People, we all make decisions and must be responsible for our actions. It is your decisions that define you. Well, his are about to define him. If he is not suspended for the season, or forever; if he can somehow finagle himself out of this mess and emerge like the Teflon Don unscathed and free, then he will play this year and be his usual competent fantasy self. It's the running dimension that pulls him up the charts. His coaches never really let that be as they kept trying to turn him into a traditional quarterback. He is not. He is a hybrid player, a QB/RB. In yardage leagues he has been a monster and even in touchdown leagues his running scores are more then double over those thrown. Ron Mexico, possible drugs in hidden water bottle compartments, and extreme cruelty to man's best friends has left him the leading candidate for the Hall of Shame and a cautionary tale in waking up from your indulgent youth and accepting the maturity of adulthood. Few of us have the genetic gift or the enabling money that has allowed him free rein; and few can leave behind their upbringing in negative environments. Yet each of us makes decisions upon decisions and the things we decide to respect and emulate are the persons we become. "Once you are born you cannot hide." And: "The Child is the Father of the Man." |
