Another Class act. Why do I have receivers so low? Why have I disrespected them by saying you should draft: RB, RB, QB, WR, RB, WR? Why would I even draft a defense before my first one in certain leagues? Compare these stat lines: Torry Holt 4th/73rd 79 total: 1,6,8,8,6,23,B,0,1,1,1,0,8,13,1,1,1 Deuce McAlister 11th/ 75th 79 total: 1,12,1, 6,8,1,B,0,6,13,0,13,2,2,6,8,0 Which one would you rather have had? McAlister is the 11th on the running back list, and went in the third to fifth round in drafts last year, as opposed to Holt being 4th , a first/second round fantasy pick; and with10 14 teams in fantasy football, this right here proves the value of taking running backs first. The 23 point game, won one week, but, those strings of binary code in the second half killed Holtıs owners. The running back will always score in steady succession instead of the streaky one game explosions receivers have. The wide receiver position is not very fantasy reliable for lots of reasons, not the least of which, is the fact that each team has a featured back but mostly three featured receivers! I have learned my lesson and simply try not to waste early draft picks on this group. A reliable guy like Harrison is an asset. A strong, demanding contender like Owens, in the right season, can be a monster. He has put me into two Superbowls! But it was the last round, in our draft a few years ago, when someone took Muhsin Muhammad and won our league. If you identity the strong receivers, they will be available later and then watching the waiver wire as favorable situations emerge is better then trying to pick up a running back two weeks into the season. Bulger is in a contract year and Jackson will break out and make teams stuff the line of scrimmage. St. Louis has one of the easiest schedules this year, and, I think, will win the division. Holt is always a reliable choice. |
