Laurence Maroney

New England will win the Superbowl. Maroney will outperform his stats from last year but...

He is a smaller back that lacks that burst of power for the goal line job. He will be fine racking up yards between the numbers, yet, when Brady gets into the red-zone he will be looking at so many more trusted and reliable weapons that Maroney will get lost in the shuffle.

Reliable sources say that Dillon feels dissed by the team and will not come back. And, here logical thinking me, was sure he would accept even the league minimum to win another Superbowl ring. Oh, well, priorities.

Sammy Morris is a veteran backup and may actually shine in a goal line role. Hard to say, but he is very hungry.

On play action Brady will drop back and be looking at Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Washington, Brown, Faulk, Maroney, Watson, etc. (Donıt forget Vrabel and any other eligible lineman!)

And you really think this second year man will be an elite back?

He will be good but needs to prove he can do more and more often.

He had some worrisome injuries last year, some that may carry over into this season.

Durability is a rare commodity among backs and even the promise of a Cadillac can get garaged in the shop for too long.

Maroney is a value pick here but not a reliable one. If he has another mediocre season then you will have wasted a first round pick.

I donıt see him outperforming this ranking. Keep in mind that with so many weapons on this team only Brady can be relied upon for consistent fantasy performance.

Belichick likes to mix it up week to week and have entirely different game plans to take advantage of the opposing teams weaknesses and keep them guessing. You canıt rely on last weekıs game film since he most likely will come out with an opposite game plan because he knows that youıre watching it.

Maroney will be better this year, but how much better?

When drafting in the first two rounds, reliability and consistency are very important; and, gambling should always be done from strength.
