This placement comes as an act of faith in Ken Whisenhunt. His genius came raw to Pittsburgh, where it was refined and brought to fruition by complementing Bill Cowher. Together they won the Superbowl that had eluded Cowher for so long. Whisenhunt learned the value of establishing the ground game and its prominence in offensive success. Coupled with his creativity in the aerial attack and he comes to Arizona ready to mold a winner out of the young clay placed before him. Edgerrin had an immediate impact on the team last year. Across the board the offensive numbers reflected his contribution. This year he will run for more yards and score more often. Leinhart is a work in progress and will competently move the ball but a veteran will be needed at the goal line. James needs to re-establish himself as one of the elite and I believe that he has this fire within him. There are still many questions with this team but when the defenses must stay off the line to cover two of the best receivers in the game then this leaves James to make the most of what his young line will give him. Arizona has looked promising so often that they are the boy who cried wolf and analysts now mention them then shy away citing their past failures in living up to expectations. My expectations are not so high, I just expect their receivers to contribute regularly to their fantasy owners and James to outperform his numbers from last year. In fact I expect Whisenhunt to rely on him as the focus of scoring for the team. Two years ago, when the team had a non-existent running game, Rackers was kicking multiple field goals from all hash marks on the field. Last year, with Edge banging out almost 1400 combined yards, his tries from 30 yards and up fell off. I see more and more red zone activity. Whisenhunt will establish him early and often, use him as a receiver as Indianapolis did; like Parker, and pound him into the end-zone whenever their close. As Mike Gandy, the O-line coach, says ³everybody has to be able to move and run². There¹s a new sheriff in town and the Edge is the bullet in his gun! |
