Thereıs a lot to be said about opportunity. Addai didnıt seem to be so much more special then other backs in his draft and yet his attitude and durability are already paying dividends in the perfect system. He should probably be taken earlier in the draft and will be taken as soon as sixth in many. But, Iım just not buying into the Addai bandwagon just yet. A lot goes down throughout an N.F.L. season and I believe that when the dust settles in 2007 he will be here in the rankings. He has yet to really prove himself and I feel he lacks a killer instinct to close. Watching him play, he seems to be content to be competent instead of special and I could be wrong, but, playing with Manning, Harrison and Wayne does allow a little coasting and they do like their touchdowns. The line is competent but small and may not be the same as last year. Their primary job is to keep defenders off Peyton Manning and the running game is secondary and a between the numbers endeavor. Plus, the more Indianapolis plays, the more teams design to beat them; and this year they are making the champions tour meaning that they will play against the best efforts of every team in the league each week. By not significantly improving in the off season and simply seeing some talented defensive departures without any real influx of talent, I see this team displaying an attitude of ³we did it, who cares². Donıt misunderstand, they would like to win back to back championships, I just donıt see them preparing to do this. Fantasy footballers tend to see more into potential then might actually be there. James was more then happy to barrel for yards and sit out at the end zone. Addai had only 1000+ yards and 7 TDs. He caught 300+ yards and 1 TD. These numbers, although stellar for a rookie, donıt impress me as much for the awesome situation he was handed. I see a bump in those numbers, but, until I see a better TD production he falls below the more reliable R.J. |
