Rudi Johnson

Rudi, Rudi, Rudi!

Ya gotta love this guy!

He gets a new contract then completes three years of 1400 yards average and 12 TDs, the consummate team player and Mr. Reliable.

There was a slight drop off last year but the team struggled with Palmer coming off injury and a very tough schedule.

Neither their schedule nor their division has gotten easier this year.

The loss of a key lineman also hurts. But, Palmer is a god of the N.F.L. right now and he will keep the defenders off R.J. by forcing them to cover the receivers.

The emergence of the physically gifted freak Chris Henry last year, my have accounted for the loss in his production. With the reality challenged Henry sitting out eight games, I expect a bench receiver to step up and Johnson to get a little extra work in the first half of the year.

Losing Washington to New England hurt, but there are some tall receivers like Tab Perry waiting to erupt. Itıs relatively easy to get open when C.J. and T.J. are on the field.

This team is just too talented offensively and as other teams score on the Cincinnati defense, they will be racking up the points to stay in games.

Donıt worry about the come-from-behinds either, as R.J. is often given the ball around the goal line and delivers.

His passing numbers are almost non-existent and I think thatıs more due to the great receivers around him; though, he has never shown a particular penchant for catching the ball. Itıs simply not part of the game plan for him.

He is not one of the Hybrid little guys weıve been talking about, yet, he does possess one of the biggest hearts in the game. His motor never stops and playing through injuries he has always recovered quickly.

He is not a first pick but makes for the perfect partner to a later picked running back tandem and if he somehow magically falls to one of the first picks, then heıs an awesome compliment to the elites. Two years ago I rode Rudi and Larry to a championship and, as thatıs a keeper league, might just do that again this year!

Expect more of the same steady production in 2007 and thatıs why he is a safer pick then the next running backs. Look into your soul and decide if youıre a gambler or not.
