In the camp report for Green Bay today, it listed two new receivers with injured fingers. Favre still has a ton of zip on his balls. Jennings is more then used to that now and should have a great year. Green Bay's schedule is favorable and Donald Driver will be the go-to-guy. This will leave single coverage on Jennings and it's time he took advantage of it. I expect the rookie to grasp the cut-blocking scheme faster then Morency and win the starting job. But Favre will still be looking to throw it into the end-zone. Martin is a good target but Jennings needs to step up and be the threat he is supposed to be. He's a bit small but also fast and Favre can still get the ball in there quick. The caution is that this team will also have a losing season and turnovers and the constant media questions about Favre's effectiveness and eventual retirement will be a drag on team psyche. If they come out winning and can sustain some surprising victories then who knows. Secretly, we'd all like to see it. Favre is a champion and everyone likes to see the champ go out in style. The secret here is a solid defense that Hawk not only legitimized, but stepped in to lead with attitude. It's only his second year, but, if Jennings can realize his opportunities then he can be a very effective third receiver. |
