Peyton Manning

Blasphemy! How can I possibly put a quarterback above this perennial favorite and especially two? Impossible! Yet, true.

Manning had a great fantasy year last year, but, was third behind the other two in 2005.

In 2004 he was #1 but did not play in week 17 to rest for the playoffs. In fact in 2005 he didnšt score a point in weeks 16 and 17.

In 2006 he was worth every penny and the 13, 10, 13 finish was awesome as well as the 23 point, 19% increase in ytd points over second place; and the 46% better performance then the fourth best quarterback is the final proof you need to realize the importance of grabbing him in the first round.

But, his fantasy stats are like a sine curve and with the Lombardi trophy finally in the Manning living room, and a heavy ring on his finger, he will drop back a bit this year.

Indianapolis did nothing significant to improve their team, nor did they address the flow of talent out of town. A marginal defense got weaker and their offense, complacent.

Addai will get more goal line carries and Peyton will play with a high level of excellence. Wayne is still young but Harrison had some surgeries he has had to shrug off and is feeling his age.

They will have a target on their backs, but, their schedule is easy and with an even easier finish: at Oakland, then Houston and Tennessee at home.

Manning will coast to 12 - 14 victories and relax at the end waiting for another playoff run.

His stats will be excellent but Brady's and Palmer's will be better.

And, what running back at this point will have a 46% scoring difference over the remaining field?
